Cadence metronome

Set your step rate — the metronome beeps and you match your cadence to it. Handy on the run: large buttons, sound and vibration, the screen stays awake.

What is cadence

Cadence is the number of steps per minute (both feet). Most experienced runners hold roughly 170–185 spm regardless of height and pace. More on the “Cadence” term.

Why people mention 180

The number 180 came from observing elite runners and got popularised as a “norm”. In reality the optimum is individual — it depends on height, leg length and pace. Treat 180 as a reasonable starting point, not a law.

How to use

If you get injured often and take long, bouncy strides landing far ahead of your body, try raising your cadence by 5–10% from your usual. Set the metronome to that rate and sync your steps to the beeps. Don't chase 180 at once — raise it gradually.
