Brick Workout
Rating
A brick workout is two disciplines performed back-to-back without a significant break, most often a bike ride immediately after swimming, or a run immediately after cycling — simulating the transition of an actual race.
In detail
The legs 'get used to' the specific sensation after cycling — brick workouts train exactly this transition: the first kilometers of running after a long bike segment feel noticeably heavier and 'wooden' in the legs compared to a regular run, and this is normal, but it takes getting used to.
How to use it
Include at least one brick session per week (even a short one — 30 minutes of cycling + 15 minutes of running) in the final weeks of triathlon preparation, so that your first brick doesn't happen right at the race.
