Overtraining
Rating
Overtraining is a state of chronic fatigue from accumulated training load without sufficient recovery, in which performance declines instead of improving, despite continued training.
In detail
Symptoms include a persistently elevated resting heart rate, sleep disturbances, irritability, decreased motivation, frequent colds (due to suppressed immunity), and stagnation or regression in performance. Unlike normal fatigue after a hard workout, overtraining does not go away after one or two days of rest.
How to use it
Keep a simple wellness diary (sleep, resting heart rate, mood, desire to train) — a persistent deviation of indicators from the norm for several days in a row is a signal to reduce the load before a serious problem accumulates.
